Weekend in Dallas!

This past weekend Jay and I headed up to Dallas for a wonderful weekend with Jay's family. Jessica and Spencer, Jay's sister and her husband, were in town for a wedding and we were so happy to see them... We hadn't seen Jessica since our crawfish boil and Spencer since our wedding... it was long overdue and we had a blast!

We drove up to Dallas on Thursday after work and enjoyed an evening on the patio with Jay's parents. Then Friday, Jay and Darrell played a little golf while I met one of my dearest and oldest friends, Morgan, for a great lunch and lots of girl talk! Then Friday evening Jay and I got together with two of his best and oldest friends and their sweet wife's for dinner. Nick and Tami are prego and expecting their sweet baby boy in December! We are so excited for them and can't wait to meet baby Ethan over Christmas!!!

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, watching movies, eating... all things inside... since it was 110 degrees!!! I have never ever been so hot!

Also, on Saturday we went and saw "The Help"! It was sooooo good... I enjoyed every minute and I can't say that I remember the last movie I saw in the theatre I said that about. I started the book, but couldn't wait till I finished to see the movie, but I hear the book is even better! So I will continue reading and let you know. If you haven't seen the movie it is a MUST SEE!!!

These photos are both better than a thousand words!!! Don't you want to go out and see the movie and read the book now???!!! This movie is defiantly one I will own!

I only took 2 photos this weekend, but better some than none. :)

My wonderful lunch date Morgan!

At dinner with our wonderful friends Scott & Karla, Nick & Tami (+ baby Ethan.)

Sadly I didn't take any photos of all 6 of us together... so this one is from our wedding.

Happy Tuesday!

Where has the summer gone?

This summer has gone by so fast... where has the time gone?

We had a great summer filled with family, friends, great cook-outs, lots of laughter, golfing, birthday parties, time in the pool, a fun new iPad, a little decorating and HOT summer mornings/afternoons/evenings... I don't remember the summers ever being this hot... it is so bad that we try to avoid being outside for more than a few hours. But besides the heat we had a great summer and are looking forward to a much cooler and fun filled fall!

So to sum up our fantastic summer here are a few photos to tell the story.

4th of July cook-out at our dear friends Michelle and Paul house.
Celebrated MomMom's birthday with some of the Overbeck clan.

Celebrated my sweet friend Sarah's birthday; super fun theme party - Cowboys and Indians!

A sleepy Sunday afternoon with my love.

New photo wall in our entry way... I got the idea from one of my favorite blogs... Young House Love!

My newest toy! It is so fun and I love using it everyday!

Fun pool day with Piper.

Uncle Jay and Piper at the pool. She isn't sure if she is a water baby just yet.

Our dear friend, Courtney, moved to Louisiana. We are sad to see her leave... but now we get to use "face-to-face" for fun video chats!

The boys being boys, James and Jay enjoying a fun summer evening by the pool... but how cute are they... matching swim-suits!

A visit from my sweet friend Kim and her precious kids, they are adorable. We even enjoyed an afternoon Waterway Cruiser ride on The Waterway.

This is Luke on our Cruiser ride... all he wanted to see was some frogs... no frog sightings this time, maybe we'll get lucky next time!

Sweet Langley enjoying an afternoon snack on the our Cruise ride. She turned one while they were here! She is growing up so fast!

This last Saturday night, Jay and I went to the Chairmans Ball and danced the night away!

They had a fun photo booth that we took advantage of for some funny memories.

Now it is time for cooler temperatures and football! Only two more weeks for college football. Jay couldn't be more excited.

New favorite song!

I heard an awesome song on the radio today and had to share it!!! It is called "Come Rest" by Lindsay McCaul... It totally speaks to the busyness in our lives... well my life and how all The Lord wants from us at times is to just come and rest with him... to be still and to not be busy... I need to hear that often.... to me this song is so refreshing and I hope it is for you!

Below are the lyrics.

Come Rest
Artist: Lindsay McCaul
Album: If It Leads Me Back

Busy, busy me, full of self-sufficiency
I have tried so fervently to earn Your love
But any joy that I once found is wearing off, is winding down
And I can hear You in the madness calling out

When You say come, rest -should I be working so hard
When You say love, rest -did You want hands or my heart
'Cause I have done my best and still I miss the mark
But I remember You said its done
So I come

So convinced that it was right, adding weight to what was light
Seeking value in Your sight, but I was wrong
For all the labor I have done is but a candle to the sun
And I can see that it would never measure up

When You say come, rest -should I be working so hard
When You say love, rest -did You want hands or my heart
'Cause I have done my best and still I miss the mark
But I remember You said its done
So I...

Come to the water's edge
I rest in Your promises
That all You ever wanted was me here
And if there's nothing left that I can do
To earn the love I need from You
Then all that's left to want is to be near
So I come...when You say come...

When You say come, rest -should I be working so hard
When You say love, rest -did You want hands or my heart
'Cause I have done my best and still I miss the mark
But I remember You said its done
So I come

Baby Shower Peep Wreath!

I have received a few request about how I made the Peep Wreath for Dana & Ryan's baby shower a few weeks back... so here it is...

First of all this was not an original idea... I was searching for fun decor ideas for baby showers and came across this... http://www.gerberadesigns.com/triedandtrue/?p=310.

Below is my tale of this fun crafty project!

First I started with a straw 12" wreath from Hobby Lobby and wrapped it in white tulle. This kept the straw from falling off the wreath and making a big mess.

Second... open all of your Peeps packages and separate the chicks for easy application onto the wreath.

Next... plug in your glue gun and go to town. There was no method to laying out the peeps on the wreath for me... just random application and fun!

All done!

I added a bow and a "Welcome... come on in" card and all finished!

Happy Mother's Day!

This past weekend my sister, mom and I enjoyed a fun 24 hour road trip to San Marcos for a retail adventure... if you have never been to the Outlet Mall in San Marcos you have to go... they have everything you could ever want; from Pottery Barn/William Sonoma to Gucci and Fendi to Old Navy and Jcrew!

We left Friday after work and came back Saturday evening. It was a quick trip but we enjoyed ever minute! Friday we had dinner at the Gristmill in Gruene, TX and it was really good! Then enjoyed Cracker Barrel on Saturday before we drove home... nothing is better than shopping, eating really good food and hanging out with two of my favorite people!

It was a great weekend and the perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day. I look forward to many more trips just like this one!

Mom, I am so grateful for your constant love and devotion to our family. I am so blessed that God chose me to be one of your daughters! Thank you for the daily example you show me... I love you very much! Happy Mother's Day!
