More like save our home...
Friday when I got home from work I was working in the guest bedroom and noticed the carpet was a little wet near the closet, so I pulled some of the stuff in the closet out of the way and found the wall was WET! I pulled everything out of the closet and found we had a bad leak... I called both a plumber and AC company to come out and figure out what happened and get it fixed ASAP. We were very luck to get ahold of the AC company before they left for the day and they were able to come out fairly soon after we called. Once he took a look at the leak/water coming through the walls/ceiling and damaged the carpet, door frames, guest bathroom, and base board in the laundry room and the AC unit he determined that the drain from the AC unit that was tied in to the Guest Bathroom drain was the issue he cut and capped the pipe and recommended we pull up the carpet and get it aired out as soon as we could. So that is exactly what we did. In the mean time I when ahead and called our home owners insurance to place the claim and find out what the protocol was with a situation like this... so after we did that we called the water extraction company and set up an appointment for them to come out today, Saturday, and take care of getting the walls, ceilings, etc dried. Around 11 today the water extraction company came and set up 6 fans and a huge humidifier to dry out the water damage. They said it will probably take 3 days to completely dry out 100% and then once it is dry the estimator with the insurance agency will come out and evaluate the damages and what the restoration/fit up will cost.
We were completely overwhelmed Friday night, but are feeling much better about the situation today. Here are some photos of the mess... I'll keep you posted on restoration and our journey through this mess... Oh the Joys of Homeownership!!!
